Master of Carpentry
Lu Ban(鲁班) is the master of carpentry during the warring period in Ancient China. He is known as the skillful and clever master.
After he pass away, he was worship as the Master of Carpentry. Lu Ban skills and knowledge was pass down, but it was in many small pieces of information. During the Ming Dynasty, an author by the name of Wu Rong(午荣) gather all the different bit of information and re-edit it into Lu Ban Jing(鲁班经).
This formalize the regulation of carpentry, measurement, ceremonies, steps to build houses and date selection. It also record how to use the Lu Ban Ruler, records of commonly use home furniture and its size and shape. It also contain information about different building and architectural structure and internal arrangement.
First part of Lu Ban Jing is all about how to build houses and furniture. Second part of the book are more interesting as it contains information about magic and some practices which is still practice today by Feng Shui masters.
These practice sometimes cannot be explain by the master as it cannot be conform into the system that they are using, for example, in flying stars it is all about energy management, but somehow some master will tell you to put a wealth ship facing into your house. Use of wealth ship are recorded in Lu Ban Jing and was pass down by master verbally in bit and pieces, many classic text in Feng Shui do not mention about this. However, due to the effectiveness of this, its practice start to merge into other Feng Shui system.
